Swami Shankarananda, in his past years of Brahmacharya, at Karar Ashram, Puri, Orissa. In the ashram that Sri Yukteswarji had founded, two great Kriya masters stayed, Paramahansa Hariharananda and Swami Narayana Giri, known as Prabhujee and he had lived with Sri Yukteswar for the last fifteen years of his life. Serving him with discretion and the utmost dedication, he was imbued with love for his master, and in turn he transmitted knowledge to the young novice. Among these teachings were the treasure of cosmic astrology.

Karar Ashram, Puri, Orissa

Swamiji at the age of 12th, came to Puri ashram for first time with his grandparents, to receive initiation. The experience overwhelmed him and he never stopped, to come back as often as possible. Three years later, he went to stay there as a Brahmachari. At that time, Paramahansa Hariharananda was in charge of the Karar Ashram.

Swami Narayana Giri (Prabhujee)

Prabhujee lived fifteen years with Sri Yukteswar, humble and faithful. He collected his daily teachings which then transmitted to a few disciples, one of them was Swami Shankarananda. 

 


From him Swami Shankarananda, received the knowledge of Cosmic Astrology system.

Baba Premananda

Baba Premananda, was the oldest among the BrahmacharI, and he had the responsibility of them. Giving instructions for the daily life, he was like their elder brother. 



Later In His Life , he founded an ashram on the island of Gangasagar where the Ganges flows into the Indian Ocean.

 
 

Bhupendranath Sanyal

One of the closest disciple of Lahiri Mahasaya. He Was initiated at the age of 16 and became a Kriyacharya at 18. Every day he was copying the teaching of Lahiriji on the Bhagavat Gita and other sacred texts of India, and then took care of their publication.

 
 

Swami Atmananda Giri

Swami Atmananda was a close friend of Paramhansa Yogananda. After the departure of the later he took responsibility of the ashram of Dakshineswar Bengal. He had received Kriya from Swami Kebalananda (disciple of Lahiri Mahasaya) and he had many disciples, the closest was Swami Brahmananda Giri (who lived 20 years in France). Visits of Atmanandaji to the Karar Ashram were very frequent. He is seen here with Baba Hariharananda.
